Product Category

I am trying to figure out the new spreadshop system. If I have a design, and I make 10 products, can I make a category and put some of those products in the category?

The old system let me create a category, and there was a category ID. I am guessing my old categories are gone and I have to make new ones. Please let me know how, and where I can get the category ID. Thanks.

You now create Topics: https://help.spreadshirt.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007225653-Organizing-Your-Shop-by-Topics and sort designs (with the automatically associated products) into these topics!

What is the difference between a Topic and an Idea?

I think I figured out what an Idea is. Here is the question I think I was trying to ask:

I have 2 versions of the same design. One for dark shirts, and one for light shirts. The old system, I could make some products and put them in the same Category. The new system has the dark products as one Idea, and the light products as another Idea. Is there a way I can put all of these products into the same Idea?? Making a “Topic” will not be the solution to my problem.

On a similar note, I have some products with multiple color schemes (one with red text, one with blue text, and one with white text). Since it is the same design, I want the customer to look at one Item (formerly one Category) and see the different color schemes they can pick from.

What you are describing isn’t possible. You need to upload separate designs and you cannot group them to one idea. One idea is really just one design (or one design on the front and one the back) with the attached products to it.

Have passed along your question and will get back to you very soon! Thanks for your patience
PS: It might make sense to set up a call and to discuss this in person. Let me know if you’d be interested in this.
