Is wordpress still supported? API for new shops?

Hello, I’m evaluating between printful and spreadshop as my first POD business. I like the fact that spreadshop/shirt is taking care of the payments /.money handling versus printful where i have to setup a system to bill the customer.

But itseems that printful has alot better wordpress support where you can sync the actual products to woocommerce and relay the orders to printful where as spreadshirt seems to have only the embed option.

But the wordpreas plugin page says “This plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress”… so… is it supported anymore and is there anything.new coming up relating this?

Another bad sign is that it seems there is no API available for new shops as there have been for older shops. This means you cannot use the apparelcuts spreadshirt plugin which would have synchronized the actual products like what printful is doing. Is there such api coming for new stores and when?

Br,
Anssi

Hello Anssi!

We love to see that you are considering working with Spreadshop to kickoff your POD business.
Of course you can use our official WordPress Plugin. The latest major update and feature addition was released one month ago. So it´s quite fresh and ready to use.
While WordPress updated to 5.3.1. in December we are following up shortly in early 2020.

If you are interested in running an API Shop, you can use our official API too:
https://developer.spreadshirt.net/display/API/Spreadshirt+Public+Shop+API+Documentation

It´s been reworked and simplified within this year, so maybe Apparelcuts did not follow the updates or missed our announcements.
Which brings me to the downside of using thirdparty software. Even if it works for sometime, it is never guaranteed that the devolpers are following up our official announcements.
Therefore you’ll always need to check twice.

If you have any other questions regards opening and running your shop, let me know!

Thomas

If you are searching for a different solution instead of the embedded and other api plugin, this still works: WP-Spreadplugin – WordPress plugin | WordPress.org

I’m looking for a plugin which would synchronize the products into Wordpress WooCommerce products like Printful plugin is doing. So the products become “normal” WooCommerce products and I can customize the product page layouts as I wish and have seo urls, product listings from certain categories, search, etc. what you can do with normal WooCommerce store.

I believe this plugin did that https://www.apparelcuts.com/resources/spreadshirt-for-wordpress-plugin/#okay but it’s not working for the new spreadshop stores, only for old stores. The developer replied that development of that plugin is stopped at the moment and that they don’t know when the API will be available in the required scope. It seems that from the developer point of view, there is no similar api (or functionality in new api) available for new shops what there are for older ones.

@lovetee How does the wp-spreadplugin work? Does it synchronize the products into WooCommerce or how does it work? How actively it is developed? I.e. if I start using it, is there how big of a risk it stops working after a while once APIs/wordpress is updated.

No it uses it’s own database. The reason is it’s made for spreadshirt-checkout, not the woocommerce one - to keep things easy.
If you just want to have your products, you can simply use the shop rss feed to import them to woocommerce.
