Images of Designs on it's Own Downloadable?

Hi
Can anyone answer with clarity whether in Spreadstore shops, the design image on it’s own can be downloaded by Anyone?

I don’t mean if the design is on a Product. I mean the stand alone design on it’s own and NOT ON a product.

Clear and honest answer, much appreciated!

Regards

Yes it can be - but only in low resolution - I actually used to do this for posting on Instagram instead of using my high resolution images there. If you’re concerned about people stealing your designs then this has been previously raised in the forum with a suggestion that Spreadshop implements a watermark feature like the one that Redbubble uses - I think they have this as a feature request - probably better info from Lena or a Spreadshop admin - but like I say - people can only download low resolution versions of your designs in this way so unlikely that anyone would unless they are going to copy with really low quality products …

Oh thank you SO much for your reply…
My work has stalled due to uncertainty. It’s a shame we can’t just upload our logo to be placed as a watermark over the image or even just a basic generic cross pattern through the image would work for everyone.

I hope it is really low resolution! Haha…

Thank again!! :+1:

No worries - you can try it for yourself to see how low resolution it actually is - when you are on your phone, just swipe to view different views of a product and one of them will be the actual design (but rendered on the garment or product - so it’s not “clean” in the first place) - then “long press” (on an iPhone - sorry, I don’t know about Android) - or on computer just right click and save - the images are such low resolution that I don’t use them on Instagram anymore as I couldn’t even read the writing on some of my designs! Which in a way is a GOOD thing really :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’d say just go for it - it’s not been called out as a problem by any of the big sellers on the platform and they have MUCH more to lose than I have!!!

Oh awesome! Thank you so much!! This is what I needed to hear. Do you have your own website with Spreadshop or just a basic shop? I want to start with just the Spreadshop on it’s own to keep costs down and basic is okay for me I don’t think I need anything fancy.

I’m hoping that by removing the Spreadshirt/shop info in the footer no one will know what company is making the shirts so I have freedom to express myself in designs without censorship to having a different view to mainstream on certain topics. :grimacing: :slightly_smiling_face:

I have integrated Spreadshop into my own website - you can see it here Shop - plzLOOK - you can’t actually remove ALL Spreadshop info in the footer as legally, YOU don’t have a direct relationship with the end customer (you never get the customer details) - which again in my view is a GOOD thing as Spreadshop handle ALL customer queries and payment processing - which is not something you want to get into as a beginner and actually I NEVER want to get into!!!

I decided to embed the shop into my own website as I’m building a community based on providing FREE information on starting a Sidehustle by blogging every step of my journey and the decisions I’m making along the way.

Be aware that the Spreadshop always have the right to reject designs if you publish something that is in violation of their terms … so feel free to express yourself - but bear this in mind.

Thanks for showing me your site. Some nice designs there. :+1:
Yes I agree it does take a load off not having to process orders. For returns and stuff they would deal with it so the customer would see the email addy for spreadshirt which is understandable. Do you sell on the marketplace as well or just your store?

Thanks for sharing and explaining your knowledge. I appreciate it.

I put some of my designs on the marketplace but many get rejected for being “too generic” - mainly the ones that follow a trend - I use a mix of my own designs and I have bought some “design packs” directly from the creators I follow on Instagram - it’s often the design pack ones that get rejected so I don’t even try putting them on the marketplace anymore. You will be fine as you are creating your own unique designs - I am a COMPLETE amateur when it comes to design!! My aim is to incorporate more of my photography into designs over time - I’m better at photography than I am at vector art!!

Oh that’s good to know, I had no idea that designs can be deemed too generic. Could still put them in your shop when that happens?

Maybe it’s possible to incorporate pre made design packs into your own design so it’s a bit more different.
I’m glad I bought the Photoshop program years ago so I don’t have to bother with subscriptions. I taught myself Photoshop, I just googled what I needed to know and searched youtube and followed along. At first I had to google how to select something in Photoshop and the thought of different layers did my head in, now 20 or more layers wouldn’t bother me at all. It’s amazing how far you can come. There are some good free alternatives to Photoshop too and you can alter photos and make them more appropriate for being on tshirts. It’s a lot of fun to muck around with but it can waste a lot of time too.

Are there more tshirt product options available in Marketplace than in Spreadshop? I think I need to much around a bit more in there soon!! I think they give us some great options anyway which is exciting.

Yes, you are then still able to publish these to your shop. For the Marketplace we don’t want thousands of same designs available to customers. For your shop you are responsible for bringing in your customers so you can publish the content you want
