If my Spreadshop is redirected to my URL/domain name, am I able to use the Google Merchant Center? I copied the URL from my Spreadshop and put is in the correct location for the productfeed but the Merchant Center also asks you to verify your website. Which URL should I verify? My domain name or my Spreadshop URL?
Hello!
As your shop is integrated into any page of your website, you can define that URL in the Merchant center.
for example: fantasticdomain.net/shop
I can imagine that URL must be identic to the one you have set in your shop settings. If you have further questions please consider contacting the official Google Merchant Customer Support.
Verifying ownership to specific URLs can also be done through Google’s Search Console:
I have followed the screenshots and still not sure how this works. If I put the shop settings domain shop.spreadshirt.co.uk/xxxxx into Google search console nothing is found. If I use my domain iamofficial.co.uk search console finds it straight away I am trying to verify now but I am not sure if its correct as my shop settings domain is different to the one I verifying. The error I am getting is we couldn’t find your verification meta tag.
Which URL would you like to verify? The Shop URL or your Website URL?
In general you can do this for both.
For using the GMC it is required to verify the URL where your customers would go to.
Google does not care about anything else. They just want to know, which page they are referring to.
I would like to.verify my domain iamofficial.co.uk
but I can see that Google merchant centre displays shop.spreadshirt.co.uk
The link in that page is hardcoded and not showing the actual adress, where your shop is embedded.
This may have caused the confusion. This URL in the Feed Section has nothing to do with URL verification processes. It´s just the URL where the link is stored.
Without too many back and fourths. What url do I need Google to verify then?
https://iamofficial.co.uk or shop.spreadshirt.co.uk/iamofficial
I am a little confused by this all?
In Google´s search console you can claim the ownership of both URLs
https://iamofficial.co.uk and your shop.
In Google Merchant Center, you need to verify the URL where your customers will enter the shop.
In your case: https://iamofficial.co.uk
Thank you Thomas. I actually verified shop through Domain name property through DNS records worked straight away on the Google search console.
