Consistent Shop Language

Hi everyone!

Does anyone run a shop that targets several countries and languages and sees inconsistent translations in their shop?

Our shop targets English and German speaking markets, however, even when allowing to change languages for the user, some elements remain in the original language (in our case, German). For example, “Unsere Produkte” (Our Products) is always in German, even when visiting the .co.uk version.

This doesn’t look too well for shoppers, do you have an idea how to fix it? Or is it a bug?

Thank you in advance!

Hey there, if you are talking about all the elements that you can edit on your Start Page or on the About Us page, then this is normal behavior that these elements just show in the language you set it up.

“Please note that the start page is initially only offered in one language at a time and that its contents are not translated.”

All other non-editable elements are automatically translated.

Hi Lena,
Thank you for the fast response on this, really appreciated!

Do I understand that this is working as intended? If so, what is your suggestion to provide multilingual shoppers a consistent shopping experience? Set up one shop per language? To me, it does not look great if you follow a sales funnel in one language and then you see unfamiliar languages of key elements in the shop you’re being led to.

Thank you again for the quick support

Yes we are aware of the problems caused by this but we don’t see a massive use of the multi-language feature + start page so adapting this isn’t very high on our prio list (this is just for you to undestand why this hasn’t been adapted yet).

So yeah you have two options. Either use English (as kind of the universal language). Or create a shop per language but then you clearly have to link them on your website as a switch won’t happen automatically!
