We’ll soon be redirecting your Shop URL from the old to the new domain. Learn how to customize your store integrations on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Google here.

What does domain redirection mean for my Shop?

On September 27th, domain forwarding will be activated from your old to your new store domain. From this date on, every page view of your old store URL will be redirected to the new one:

SHOPNAME.myspreadshop.xyz

During normal online surfing, nothing changes. Whoever types in your old store URL in their browser will be automatically redirected to the new domain. Nevertheless, you should only use the new store URL from now on.

The Google index will also be switched to the new domain. So whoever searches for your Shop in the future will see your store with the new domain on the search results page.

Next step: update the domain on all your platforms

If you also sell your Shop products on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Google or advertise your store there, then there’s an important step you need to take.

If you do not update your domain on these platforms, you may get error messages.

Therefore, you should definitely adjust your store integration and product feed on all external platforms as soon as possible. This is especially true for:

– the Facebook Business Manger and therefore also for Instagram

– the Google Merchant Center

– Pinterest Shopping

You’ll need to make sure to link your new Shop domain there in order to guarantee that your products can be clicked on and purchased, as well as to ensure that your advertising is correctly displayed.

Why does my Shop need a new domain?

Facebook, Pinterest, and other platforms require subdomain structures for the integration of Shops into their platforms. You can read more about the details and background information here.

Issue with updating new domain on Google Merchant Center.
The old Spreadshirt URL (https://shop.spreadshirt.com/luckycontestant) – Google Property ID is currently:
wYlHlg3NXuTh0jbk5Yfr_YRS2cdX6yzVNo_E91NZ1a8

When I attempt to update the new assigned Google Property ID:
for the new shop URL (https://luckycontestant.myspreadshop.com): k0LLGxDceB0jKfG7XX_WkWQcxEEvc3psHyloXjBtNo0
Google does not verify it because the shop’s listings still reflect the old property ID and I cannot claim or verify the new url domain for my 60K+ listings:
https://luckycontestant.myspreadshop.com

I receive an error from Google Merchant Center:
URLs do not belong to your website
Please verify and claim a new website URL in the General Settings page or change the product listing link to point to a page that belongs to your current website.

Can we please get this fixed?

Hi @LuckyContestant.net

Can you confirm that you’ve verified your new domain in GMC?

You do this is Settings>Business Information>Web Site

You should get two confirmations once you update the domain

  • Verified
  • Claimed

Once that step is complete, you might need to update your product feed in GMC to reflect the new verified domain.

If you follow both these steps, do you still receive the same error?

Hi Sye,
I am getting this error message:
error_outlineThe meta tag on your site is incorrect.

I take out the old meta tag and replace it with the new one for the new URL.
Upon verifying I am still receiving an error message.

I did notice when I hit refresh after entering the new meta tag that it reverts back to the old tag automatcally
(hmmmmm).
Seems Spreadshirt needs to go in and update the Google Property ID for me
( k0LLGxDceB0jKfG7XX_WkWQcxEEvc3psHyloXjBtNo0 ). I think this is what the problem
is and why I am receiving mismatched URL errors if the old tag remains in Spreadshirt’s system and not updated there.

Hi @LuckyContestant.net

I saw you had been speaking to our collague Britta who’s been assisting you. This morning we updated your Property ID in the partner area, and you should be able to verify in GMC now.
